The three trimesters of pregnancy are all quite different from one another. Of course, no two pregnancies are exactly alike. Some women will deal with extreme morning sickness that makes the idea of having another child seem unbearable while others will not have even the slightest such symptom. But generally speaking, here are some things women can expect to encounter in their three pregnancy trimesters:

First Trimester

The first trimester of pregnancy is the time from contraception to 12 weeks. For a portion of the first trimester, you will not even know for sure that you are pregnant. This is the most crucial phase of pregnancy; most miscarriages take place in the first trimester. Your baby's body structure and organs develop in this phase.

Mother undergoes extreme hormonal changes in the first trimester. Most pregnancy morning sickness is experienced in the first trimester. Mood swings, nausea, and fatigue are all common pregnancy symptoms experienced in the first trimester. In many ways, this is the worst phase of pregnancy. If you can make it through the first twelve weeks, you and baby are probably going to be alright.

Second Trimester

Most women agree that the second trimester is the most pleasant phase of pregnancy. The second trimester officially begins at the 13th week of pregnancy and extends through the 27th week. The baby grows rapidly during this phase. At some point during this phase, you will start to feel the first signs of baby's movement. What will at first feel like a light fluttering will eventually grow to a sometimes-uncomfortable kicking as baby grows bigger and stronger.

Mom will be pleased that morning sickness, fatigue, and other uncomfortable symptoms brought on by the hormonal changes of pregnancy will subside significantly in the second trimester. This is the best time of your pregnancy to do chores in preparation for baby's arrival. It is also a good time to start a pregnancy exercise routine if you haven't already. Practicing good nutrition habits and exercise will help make the third trimester and childbirth much easier!

Third Trimester

The final trimester of pregnancy runs from the 28th week to delivery. Both baby and Mom pack on a lot of weight in this phase. Movements will grow more difficult and uncomfortable for Mom as the size of the uterus grows quite large. Pains and cramps may increase in frequency as a result of this. Mom is best advised to sleep on her side and drink lots of water. Urination frequency will increase due to the added pressure on the bladder. Baby's movements will become more intense. Practice deep breathing to provide ample oxygen for baby and bring about relaxation. The third trimester might not be all sunshine and flowers, but with the excitement of welcoming your baby into the world growing nearer and nearer each day, you'll make it through just fine!
